Questions Camping Edersee Paradies | FAQ
1. Do I need to book in advance?
A reservation is not always necessary, but it’s recommended—especially on public holidays and during high season. We can usually only take pitch requests into account if you book early. You can also book online at short notice and pay directly via PayPal or bank transfer—even on the day of arrival.
2. Can I arrive spontaneously?
Yes, walk-in guests are welcome. Even outside reception hours, you can still book online on site (if available) and pay via PayPal or instant bank transfer. You will then receive a confirmation email right away with your assigned pitch.
3. Reception is closed when I arrive – what now?
If you have already booked, that’s no problem: you can simply go to your assigned pitch and check in at reception the next day. If the electricity boxes are locked, the key is hanging on the reception door. The barrier closes at 10:00 pm due to quiet hours.
For spontaneous arrivals, please see question 2.
4. Are dogs allowed?
Yes, dogs are welcome. They may also swim in the Edersee as long as they are on a leash and you are considerate of other guests. Guide dogs are free.
5. Are there electricity and water connections?
Yes. At several central locations you’ll find fresh-water points and power boxes with CEE connections (CEE adapters can also be borrowed on site). Please indicate during booking whether you need electricity.
6. Is there Wi-Fi?
No, we don’t offer public Wi-Fi. Instead, we offer plenty of nature, peace and relaxation.
7. Are there sanitary facilities?
Yes, there are toilets, showers and dishwashing sinks. Our facilities are simple but functional. The showers work with a €0.50 coin insert.
8. Can I barbecue or make a campfire?
Barbecuing is allowed. Open fires are only permitted in fire bowls (available to borrow on site) and depend on current weather/fire risk conditions. Firewood can be purchased at reception and must not be collected in the national park or at the Edersee.
9. Are there shops nearby?
Yes, there is a small shop on the campsite with fresh bread rolls and a restaurant. In Vöhl you’ll find the nearest larger supermarket.
10. Are motorhomes and campers welcome?
Yes—motorhomes, caravans, tents and campervans are welcome. If you have a larger vehicle, please provide the dimensions when booking so we can find a suitable pitch for you.
11. Can I book an appointment for horse riding?
Since we don’t offer fixed appointment scheduling, horse riding and donkey walks are arranged on site. We’ll look together at what’s possible. Please come to reception for this.
12. Is swimming possible?
Yes—swimming is possible in the Edersee, a large reservoir with clean natural water. Check the water level here. Swimming is generally still possible down to a level of about +233. There are also outdoor pools in Vöhl and Korbach. When the water level is low, you can even reach Vöhl by bike or on foot via the “Atlantis Bridge” (Asel Bridge), which then becomes visible again.
13. What happens in bad weather?
The campsite remains open. In heavy rain, some grassy areas may become softer or muddy. We recommend waterproof shoes and, if needed, traction aids for vehicles.
14. Do you have an accessible/disabled bathroom?
Yes, we have a separate accessible bathroom with Euro key access, and it’s free to use. Please note, however, that parts of the campsite have unpaved paths and grass areas.
15. WHERE CAN I CHARGE MY CAR?
There is an EV charging station nearby in Vöhl-Harbshausen. More information, current availability and directions can be found here:
